The public footpath was
link to larger picture
closed so we walked
link to larger picture
up the hill and
link to larger picture
up another hill, then stopped
link to larger picture
for a breather at the top. Then
link to larger picture
into the fields, across a stream
link to larger picture
and up a hill
link to larger picture
with good views until
link to larger picture
we stopped
link to larger picture
for lunch.

Then off again, we had
link to larger picture
good views and good weather:
link to larger picture
an easy stretch except for
link to larger picture
the odd tricky stile

or gate.

Going down the hill
link to larger picture
we met a herd of
link to larger picture
sheep before reaching
link to larger picture
the valley bottom
link to larger picture
beside the Croglin Water where
link to larger picture
we stopped for a fruit break.

Then on we went past some

lovely lambs and

more water until we reached
link to larger picture
the muddiest field ever
link to larger picture
which took
link to larger picture
ages to cross and
link to larger picture
left us with very dirty boots!

After all that mud, the

woods made a pleasant change

but for the fallen trees across
link to larger picture
the footpaths.

Once into Stafford Park
link to larger picture
we passed a rookery,

an easy stile and
link to larger picture
baby lambs but were soon

back in Kirkoswald and the pub!
